Five years ago yesterday, my dad left this earth.
I posted a while ago about my niece’s interview with my dad, just three months before he died. This was for a school project, and the subject was “a memorable presidential election.”
My dad had been in charge of the Republican Party headquarters in Nebraska during Barry Goldwater’s campaign in 1964, and was a delegate to the National Republican Convention in San Francisco that year. It was there, (at the Top of the Mark, to be precise) that, having seen the process up close, he decided to turn his back on it.
So, as you can imagine, he had a lot to say on the topic.
(My niece got an “A”, by the way.)
Just recently, my sister came across the audio files for the entire interview, in which my dad sounds forth on each of his granddaughter’s questions. Here are those files, in the audio above, for your enjoyment (I’ve tried to put them into their correct order).
